US Gandhi Bernie Meyere reenacting Gandhi's Salt March in Olympia US

Bernie Myere is one of America's leading followers of Mahatma Gandhi. On September 10, 2006 he and his supporters celebrated the 100th anniversary of  Gandhi's Satyagrah (struggle for truth) in South Africa, by organising and reenacting the historical Salt March. More than 200 people participated in the march in the city of Olympia. The march culminated in a public meeting that vowed to work for a sustainable world by expressing faith in Gandhi's belief - 'Less is More'. Meyere, who wears dhoti, is a  piece campaigner. He  also portrays Gandhi in US schools. He plans to go to Palestine and Israel to preach Gandhi's message of non-violence. Here is the extraordinary story of a US Gandhian.

Ex-Du Pont chief returns to his village to educate poor girls

Sam Virendra Singh occupied top positions in the US multi-national giant DuPont. After 35 years in the US he returned to his village in Bulandshahr district to open a remarkable vocational school for the 'poorest of the poor' girls. They get free meals, free education, free clothes and on top of that Rs 10 per day and  produce export quality home furnishings. Singh has committed $500,000,  to this remarkable social experiment. And that's his own money.
